School: Eckhorst

I have received my school! Gymnasium Eckhorst.  This school will be about 8 minutes by bike from where I am living.I am very excited! They already have an active exchange program with just the school through Poland, Spain, and even Italy. Fortunately, they have a website that is in English so that I can better understand what the school is like. As I have discovered, this school is very small.  It is on the outskirts of Bargteheide. Luckily, distances are small in this town so it will not be a far ways away!

City: Bargteheide

It is official! I have received my German town. Bargteheide, Germany. It is a small city just outside of Hamburg. There are 15-16,000 residents, and as I take it there are 3 high schools. This small city has a train station that is only 30 minutes from Hamburg (a city with a population of 1.7 million, that can closely be resembled to Baltimore).

Corresponding with the Rotarians, I have been asked to join a glee club! This may be very different from American show Choirs, but I am interested in finding out what there is to it.

Bargteheide's main transportation is walking and biking.I feel as though this will be a big change because driving here is very common. If the grocery store is a minute away we still drive. There, I will have to walk or bike to everywhere I need to go.

Being only 30 minutes from Hamburg is very exciting! It is the second largest city in Germany.Streets are lined with water ways, and there is much to do.

I have found out that I will be in Bargteheide with 2 other students. One is from Ecuador and another from Brazil.I do not know who they are just yet, but I hope to find out soon.

Overall, I am very excited and I am glad this is my town.
